Our story begins on a cold January night in a Midtown Atlanta bar. While Lanae could not read Dan that night, Dan was convinced Lanae could be the girl he would marry someday. We could tell a date-by-date story here, but that is absolutely boring to most of you and maybe too much information for the internet. So, here are the cliff notes.

We spent the next several weeks getting to know each other: adventuring on date nights that ranged from a night at the museum to pastries and walks to cooking together. The centerpiece of this was good conversation and quality time. It was evident Dan was falling for Lanae, but she was quintessentially pondering her feelings and was not yet ready to commit. Dan kept showing up in all the right ways, even surprising her with dinosaur thimbles on Valentine’s Day; these were a reminder of their second date and demonstrated his hope, confidence, and unwavering love–themes throughout their journey together.

As time went by, Lanae realized she felt the same. She surprised Dan on his birthday by being the first to say I love you. We moved fast from there.

While experiencing sudden job changes, going on fun vacations, and meeting family and friends, our relationship deepened, and it became clear we wanted to spend our lives together.

On a Friday in October, Dan planned a “double date” at a restaurant on the Chattahoochee River. However, there was in fact no double date, and in the gardens beside the restaurant, Dan proposed. It was a night to remember.

It has been a delight to learn, grow, experience, and eat together this year. And as they say, we know the best is yet to come; we are so excited for all the memories to be made and to continue this journey together. We cannot wait to celebrate our love with you! #frompeachtreetoforever
